Key figures
Show key figures from monday.com boards in your portal
Use the Key Figures section to show the numbers that matter most to a client as cards in your client portal, for example open invoices or active projects. Every figure is calculated from your monday.com boards, and each client only sees the numbers of their own items.

Overview
How key figures work
A key figure doesn't connect to a board directly. It is calculated over an existing Board Table or Board Grid section of your portal, on any page, and uses the same items that this section shows to the client:
- Client items only: on boards with client-specific data, a client's figures only include that client's items.
- Filters included: the board filters of the section also apply to the figure.
- Same number format: a figure uses the column settings of the section, such as a currency.
A Key Figures section holds one or more cards. The cards share a row on wide screens and stack on phones.
Setup
Add a Key Figures section
You need at least one Board Table or Board Grid section in your portal before you can set up a figure.
- Open the Builder tab within your Client Portal Builder board view.
- Select the page that should show the cards, and click Add section.
- Choose Key Figures.
- Click Set up the number in the first row, and choose what the card shows.
- Enter a Label, and optionally choose an Icon, a URL and a Color.
- Click
+to add more cards, and drag the handles to change their order. - Publish your portal.

Number setup
Choose what a card shows
Set up the number opens the Number setup dialog:
- Section: the Board Table or Board Grid section the figure is calculated over. Sections are listed as
Page → Section (Headline), and a headline makes them easier to tell apart. - Function: how the values are calculated.
- Numbers column: the column to calculate. It isn't needed for Count items.

Available functions
| Function | Result |
|---|---|
Sum | Total of the column |
Average | Average of the column |
Median | Middle value of the column |
Minimum | Lowest value in the column |
Maximum | Highest value in the column |
Count values | Number of items with a value in the column |
Count items | Number of items, no numbers column needed |
Filtered figures
Show a figure for some items only
A key figure has no filter of its own. To show a number for some of the items, such as open invoices, point it at a section with that filter:
- Add a Board Table or Board Grid section that shows those items, for example a table called
Open invoices. - Add a board filter to it, for example a status filter for
OpenandOverdue. - Select this section in the Number setup dialog.
The section also gives clients the list behind the number, and it makes a good target for the card's link.

Did you know?
The section a figure is calculated over has to be visible to the client. If it is hidden, or a section condition hides it from a client, the card is left out for that client. The Builder warns you about hidden sections, so keep the source section visible for every client who should see the card.
Appearance
Links, icons and colors
Each card has its own appearance settings:
- Icon: choose from a list of icons, or
No icon. - URL: makes the whole card a link. Click the link icon in the field to pick a portal page, or enter an external address starting with
https://,mailto:ortel:. External links open in a new tab. Cards with a link show an arrow. - Color: pick one of the swatches, or Reset to default color to use the primary color of your theme.

Limitations
What to keep in mind
- Numbers columns only: all functions except Count items work with numbers columns. Formula and mirror columns can't be selected.
- No items: when a client has no matching items, a card shows
–instead of a number. Counts usually show0. - Changing the source: if you delete the source section, or its column is no longer a numbers column of the board, the row shows a warning in the Builder. Open Number setup and choose a new source.
- Updates: figures are calculated when the client opens the page, so they don't change while the page stays open.
