Board to Website Widget features

Explore the settings available in Board to Website Widget for monday.com for choosing layouts, customizing design, selecting columns, filtering items and automating publishing.

Layout

Choose a matching layout design

Select from a Table, Grid or Events layout. Each layout comes with a different design and specific settings which can be individually accessed via Table settings, Grid settings and Events settings.

General settings

Make global design changes

General settings let you apply global adjustments to the widget. For example, make the widget colors and font match your brand or define the display order of items via the Sort column selection.

Column settings

Decide which columns to display

Column settings let you define which board columns to show in your published widget. Each column and type provides individual and advanced settings which can be accessed by clicking the button.

Which options a column offers depends on its type:

Option Applies to What it does
Show label Every column Shows the column name along with its value, so a value stays readable on its own in the grid and events layouts.
Display label inline Every column Puts that label on the same line as the value instead of above it.
Exclude from search Every column Keeps the column out of the widget search, so its values never produce a match.
Show as filter Status, Dropdown Adds a dropdown for the column to the widget header, so visitors can filter by its labels.
Display thumbnails Files Shows image files as thumbnails instead of a file list.
Summarize Numbers Mirror Adds the mirrored numbers up and shows the total instead of every single value.
Enforce line breaks Long text Keeps the line breaks the text has on your board.
Choose date format and Choose time format Date Define how the date and the time are displayed.

Did you know?

All columns displayed within the app are inherited in the column order from their board. To rearrange columns in your widget, adjust the column order on your monday.com board.

Search and filters

Let visitors search and filter your widget

Turn on Search in the general settings to add a search box to the widget header. Visitors type into it to narrow the published items down to the ones that match.

A term matches at the start of a word. Searching for NJ finds Newark, NJ, but not enjoy. Everything that is not a letter or a number starts a new word, so spaces, hyphens, underscores, slashes, commas and brackets all separate words – which is why up finds Follow-up call.

Several terms narrow the result further. Every term has to match, and all of them have to match within the same column. Searching for manager project finds an item whose role column reads Project Manager.

Accents are ignored. Searching for Muller finds Müller, and the other way round.

Search only looks at the columns your widget displays. Hidden columns are never searched, and a displayed column can be kept out of the search with Exclude from search in its column settings. This is worth doing for internal IDs, long notes or link columns, which otherwise match far more often than a visitor expects.

Status and dropdown columns can additionally be offered as a filter. Turn on Show as filter in the column settings and the widget header gets a dropdown for that column, in every layout. It lists the column's labels in the same order as on your board, and only those labels that still have items to show – so a visitor can never pick a filter that leaves the widget empty. Search and filters apply together, and each filter narrows the options the other filters offer.

Items in a dropdown column often carry several labels at once. Filtering by one of them shows every item carrying it, alongside whichever other labels those items have.

Did you know?

A column does not have to be displayed to be a filter. Hide it in the column settings and turn on Show as filter, and visitors can filter by it without the column taking up space in the layout. A column hidden this way is not searched either.

Board filters

Define which items to publish

Board filters let you set up column-based Rules which include or exclude specific items in your published widget. You can add and apply multiple rules at once. Board filters work independently from your native monday.com board filters.

Use board filters to:

  • Show only relevant items (e.g. specific statuses or groups)
  • Keep your published data clean and focused

Use parameter board filters to:

Text labels

Change or translate labels in the widget

Text labels let you adjust any text label displayed in the widget. This is commonly used if your board content is not in English. Not all text labels are used in every widget, they are dependent on your chosen widget layout.

Advanced settings

Enable subitems and formulas

By accessing the advanced settings, you can enable Subitems in table layouts and enable native monday.com Formula columns in your column settings and widget. Enabling formulas comes with certain limitations and is flagged as experimental usage.

Automations

Publishing with automations

Depending on your plan you gain a specific amount of monthly automations. Small, Medium and Large have 500 automations available per month. Keep in mind, that all automations are shared across all widgets across your monday.com account.

  • Open the Automation center on the board with a widget
  • Search for Widget and choose the automation template
  • Choose a time period to publish the widget, such as daily or weekly
  • Create the automation to publish the widget fully automated
