Using several widgets on one board

A monday.com board used to hold exactly one widget. With Board to Website Widget you can now build several widgets on the same board, each with its own layout, settings and embed code. That lets you publish the same board in different ways – for example a compact list for your sidebar and a full grid for a landing page – without duplicating the board itself.

Finding your widgets

Where the app opens depends on how many widgets the board has. A board with a single widget – or one you have not set up yet – opens straight into the editor, exactly as before. Once a board has more than one widget, you land on the widget list instead.

The list shows every widget on the board with its name and whether it is currently published online. You can open it at any time with the Manage widgets link at the bottom of the editor's sidebar.

From the list you can:

• Edit – open a widget and change its layout and settings
• New widget – add another widget to the board
• Rename – give a widget a clearer name
• Duplicate – copy an existing widget, including all of its settings
• Delete – remove a widget you no longer need

A board can hold up to 20 widgets. Widget names can be up to 100 characters long.

Default widget

The default widget

The first widget on a board is its default widget, marked with a grey Default label in the list. It behaves like every other widget, with two differences:

• It keeps the board's original embed code. Any website that already embeds this board keeps working unchanged.
• It cannot be deleted, so that embed code can never break.

Every widget you add afterwards gets its own separate embed code.

Names exist purely to tell your widgets apart – they are never part of the embed code. Renaming a widget is always safe: it keeps its embed code and stays online.

Duplicating creates a new widget on the same board with a copy of all the original's settings. The copy starts out unpublished and has its own embed code, so it never affects the widget it was copied from. This is the quickest way to build a variant of a widget you are happy with.

Deleting

Deleting a widget removes it and all of its settings permanently. To make sure a widget can never disappear from a live website by accident, a widget has to be taken offline first.

1. Open the widget and unpublish it
2. Return to the widget list
3. Delete it

The delete button stays disabled while a widget is published online, and the default widget has no delete button at all.

Publishing

Publishing and automations

Each widget is published on its own. Publishing one widget never changes what any other widget on the same board serves, and each widget has its own published address to embed.

For automated publishing, two recipes are available:

• The existing board-based recipe publishes that board's default widget.
• A widget-based recipe lets you pick exactly which widget of a board to publish.

If you have automations set up from before, they keep publishing the default widget and need no changes.
